Spring 04- SUPER 91 & BISONS- just found a small supply of Bison actions stored for the last decade. also a few blued Super 91 actions and barrels. Only came to light when the collector's widow was cleaning out the basement. I will be stocking the Bisons with newly designed wood and restocking the Super 91's with B&C fiber-composite stocks. They will show up on the Custom-Used portion of this website shortly.
Spring '04 Have finished design and prototype work on the new Locking Block muzzleloading rifle, for now designated the Alpha. Now comes the pre-production work, then finally production. This process usually takes a year or two so be patient. You will finally get a look at it. Resembles a Farquarson single shot, at least superficially.
July 04- JUST BACK FROM AFRICA- hunted the Limpopo province with Boer Coetzee's Inafrica Safaris. Great hunt. Lots of animals, about the only thing they didn't have was lion and elephant. We couldn't go to supper one night because a rhino was in the yard. Took seven animals, using the 45/40-350 saboted PowerStar in a Thunderbolt. It was deadly. Longest shot 180 yards. Also tried out my new 336 primer under hunting conditions. It worked great, even easier to handle than a 209 primer. Follow on the hyperlink BOOKS- DOCS BEST- AFRICA for more information
July 04- Development of the new 336 primer announced, in reality a 32 S&W case in a White breechplug, It worked well for Doc in Africa but is not a standard item yet. Read about it in WHATS NEW. Watch for it from White later.
Sept 04- Announcing a new feature on the website, 'DOC'S LATEST ADVENTURE . A glimpse into the trials, tribulations, inventions, hunts and fun things that Doc gets into.
Dec '04- Owners Manuals for M97 Whitetail Hunter and M98 Elite Hunter, as well as the Tominator and Lightning shotguns, the older Whitetail and Super-91 and the new ThunderBolt, now available on this website. Click on the hyperlinc at the top of the page (in orange) 'Instruction Manual' to go directly to the site, then click on the manual you want to see.
Dec '04- Doc has commissioned this website to publish his book, "The White Muzzleloading System- a Revolution in Muzzleloading" right on the website. Click on the "Books" hyperlinc above, then click on the active hyperlinc (in orange) that designates the chapter you want to see, Chapters will be added as time allows. If you want to download the chapter, you will be charged $2 per chapter, payment by 'honor system'. No download, no pay, read all you want.
Jan '05 Doc's second book,. DOC WHITE'S BEST is now available on this website. Chapters are being added as time permits. Click on BOOKS then click on the chapter you want to reveiw.
JUNE '05- Pre-production work on the new 209 primer kit for W-series rifles done. Kits should be available from WhiteRifles LLC shortly.
July 05- In order to make searching for guns a little easier for you, the old CUSTOM-USED section has been divided into a more modern section and a traditional section. The modern part will keep the old CUSTOM-USED title plus MODERN and will continue to show White brand rifles and other more modern muzzleloaders and firearms, while the new traditional portion will be titled CUSTOM TRADITIONAL. This section will illustrate the more traditional flintlock, percussion side-lock arms that are for sale.
Oct '05- for those who would like to see what WhiteMuzzleloading has sold in the past, we have included a new section, including both modern and traditional guns with descriptions and pictures. To review past efforts, just click on ARCHIVES/CUSTOM-USED-MODERN & TRADITIONAL in orange above.
Feb 06- NEW FEATURE on the website. STORIES, BRAGS AND BANTER (see above in orange hyperlincs column) featuring a hunting story from time to time. Most make a point, some teach a principle, some are just pure fun.
Mar '06- The supply of G-Series Whitetail barreled actions is drawing down. We have only a few left in 504 caliber but have found a good number of them in 410 caliber. .410 has never been a terrifically popular caliber. although they shoot their 400 grain bullets even better than a 451 or 504 shoots the same weight. They are also very accurate.
Mar '06- White is coming out with a new model for '06, a member of the G-Series, the M97L for Lite. It will be similar to the familiar M97 Whitetail Hunter except that the barrel will be 22 inches long and a touch lighter. Laminate and fiber-comp[osite stocks, fiber-optik sights and Delrin Ramrods will continue to be available. The rifle will weigh in at just a touch over 7 lbs, depending on caliber. April '06 Just back from Spring Hunting School on the Continental Ranch in Texas, near Sanderson. There were 5 of us there, three of us had taken a couple Toms each by the time the other two arrived and they were still hunting when we left. Saw many birds with numerous opportunities for kills. We will be doing this again next year. Watch for the announcement.
Sept 07 Doc is changing his email moniker to doc@whitemuzzleloading.com.
OCT3 07- HAD A GOOD MEETING WITH STEVE BROWN WHO CAPTAINS THE WHITERIFLES LLC ORGANIZATION. HE REASSURES ME THAT ALTHOUGH WHITERIFLES LLC HAS BEEN SEEING SOME TOUGH TIMES RECENTLY AND IS IN THE MIDST OF RE-ORGANIZATION AND RE-FINANCING, THAT THE COMPANY REMAINS OPEN FOR BUSINESS ON THE WEB. THE WHITERIFLES WEBSITE IS NOW UP AGAIN AS IS THE EMAIL. THE EMAIL QUE IS RAPIDLY SHORTENING BUT ANSWERS BY PHONE REMAIN PROBABLEMATIC.STEVE WOULD PREFER THAT CLIENTS USE EMAIL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
June 2008- It has become apparent that Whiterifles LLC has failed. Its doors are no longer open and the rent has not been paid for months. As a consequence, DOC has turned his attention to traditional rifles, smoothbores and doubles, which is where he started years ago. He will continue to produce modern and traditional muzzleloading guns at his whim, and sell them as they come off his production line. He will occasionally take a custom order, as he will also continue to buy, sell and trade for White products from past years. If at all possible, he will secure the inventory left from WhiteRifles LLC so that repair parts are availalbe for past White models.
Sept 2008- Steve Brown has completed the move to new facilities- much smaller than before- and says he is cong back with WhiteRifles, LLC. He has an 'in construction' website up and has started producing bullets for the fall hunting season. He says that 209 conversion kits will soon follow. I hope it all works out.
